ReconNEcT Working Week 8

Sometimes you have to reach out to a former mentor and share how grateful you are for their guidance...
Even when that person was a nasty, power hungry, condescending artistic director who loved playing games.
The truth is, this person was extremely talented at their job, despite having any creativity of their own, they really knew how to draw it out of others.
I learned a lot from my time with this person;
I discovered that there is a nice way to get things done, an evil way to say something and how to travel overseas.
So this week, I'm sending an overdue F_ck-off, in the form of a "Thank You!"
See?
Progress.

ReconNEcT Working Week 7

This week I wanted to focus on a life-long friend;
We've shared wonderful adventures throughout our lives-
Laughter, sadness, success and setbacks,
Through it all, she has always remained loyal, loving and supportive!
Nothing makes me happier than to share my gratitude in a surprise letter.
Beckie, this one's for you.

Dear Blog

Dear Blog,
I miss you. I know that I made a promise to spend more of my creative time working on finishing the final draft of my book, however, I really think it might be better for me to share more with you too!
Why do we have to set such high demands on our relationship? I don't understand why my book is so jealous of our time together...
Maybe it's because you're such a better listener!
My book is just so, "Work on me. Finish me. Me. Me. Me..."
I understand where my book is coming from. I have been putting it off for a while now-
I guess I just need you Blog- to feel more creative and inspired.
Would it be okay if I stopped in more than once a week to share?
I hope that's cool with you. I know it would really help me.
Thanks for being her Blog. I'm really glad we had this talk!
Your friend,
matthew

A Letter to the Month of July

Dear July,
I know that you're usually a sunny, hot, celebration of beach and food;
But right now, you're really being a drag.
Then to go all "June Gloom" on us-
It really hurts!
I miss our summer fun!
When we were younger you took me to the lake;
we barbecued, went on long hikes, and beach days were a blast.
Now, you expect me to enjoy 65 degree weather in Los Angeles?!?
Well, I think you've lost your spunk...
I know you're coming down with the Global Warming and all...
But can't you just pull it together for one week?
I'll be on vacation soon- and I really hope you don't act like a total bitch then!

With all my love,
Matthew
