Remembering

It's hard to believe that thirteen years have passed since that unimaginable day in New York City.
I woke up to the sound of crying, my roommate had been up earlier than I, and saw the first plane fly into the World Trade tower.
We watched in horror as the second plane flew into the second tower-
We knew then it was no accident.
More than the fear, the overwhelming smell of smoke and destruction, and the looming uncertainty, I will remember how my New Yorkers and America united that day.
I was never more grateful to have my friends, who after that day, will forever be my family.  We cried together.  We comforted one another.  We prayed.  We told stories, which turned into much needed laughter.
On that day, we lost our innocents.  Through it all, I had my friends, who from then on, I consider members of my family.

Thank You Mr. President

A country still divided,
Hopefully not for long.
No leader has ever had the blessings of all-
Their ability to soar in spite of that is what makes history.
"Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers & sisters are treated like anyone else under the law..." - President Barack Obama
Amen.

November... Election Time! ...Thank God!

November is here!
Tis the season...
To get out and vote,
I can't wait until this election is over.
I'm sick of defending my choice for Equality-
Listening to people talk about the economy.
Interesting, the economy didn't seem to bother them when Bush was running the country.
Oh yes, because they were all caught up in going to war!
To protect our OIL... I mean Freedom.
Four more days.
Then on to more enjoyable Fall festivities.

Hope.

I will never forget the night of November 4, 2008. I was fortunate enough to gather with a group of friends as we watched this country come together and unite in equality. That once again hope, faith and humanity have joined with the promise of change. A commitment to come together on equal ground as the United States of America. I'm so grateful to live in America- where every voice can be heard, every person has the right to freedom and with hard work and faith, dreams can become reality.
