Gingerbread Latte

Isn't it fascinating that such a simple idea exploded into such a massive event-
I'm positive that there are people who have "Starbucks Red Cup Day" marked on their calendars.
The Gingerbread Latte evokes the spirit of the holidays.
My first sip of Christmas in a cup came during a lunch break during rehearsals for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City.  I was with a group of performers strolling through Rockerfeller Center.  We were tired and needed a pick-me-up.  I broke my usual (twice a day) habit of ordering a Grande Mocha, to try the new festive drink.  Trust me, I spent more money on Starbucks coffee, than I did on rent in my NYC studio apartment during my twenties!  (If only I had that money now.)
I haven't looked back since.
Every holiday season since, I eagerly await the day I can order a taste of Christmas past.
After all, isn't that what we're buying into?
It's commercialism at it's finest.  If you're longing for family, friends or the childhood memories that never existed- look no further than Starbucks.
I promise one sip of their custom holiday specialty drinks will fill you with warmth and happiness!

417 West 47th Street

It's like time stood still.

Sitting in the comfort of my old living room, laughing with my roommate;

Reminiscing about the past and catching up on the present.

I was a different person back then, I had yet to grow into myself.

She pointed out that I am comfortable in my new skin-

Yes, I am proud of the person I'm becoming.  I've stayed true to my goals and dreams, and haven't given up on the idea that "it" will happen.

It IS happening!

A constant work in progress.  Maybe I'll really discover who I am when I'm old and bald?

New York, Brooklyn?!

I thought the saying was New York, New York!
Nevertheless, I'm on a couch in Brooklyn visiting with my friends in the city.
Flashback to eight years ago, when I used to live in NYC, and you NEVER would have found me in Brooklyn! NEVER.
NOT because it wasn't safe, or hip, or cool.
It just wasn't The Big Apple!
When I was a kid growing up, I never dreamed about moving to Brooklyn-
No offense. It just wasn't part of the Broadway experience.
So after PLENTY of ribbing and clichéd jokes, I decided to give Brooklyn a chance...
I mean, I didn't really have a choice, that's where their house is, and I needed a bed to sleep in!
All I can say is that I was wrong.
Their tree-lined street is gorgeous. Their apartment is charming. The food and culture rivals anything I've seen in Manhattan, and they live right next to a spectacular park!
The only down side-
Two subway transfers and 20 minutes to get to midtown...

Culture Brunch and Conversation with Matthew and Mari Beth

I spent the better part of every Sunday in my twenties in New York City with my friends Matthew and Mari Beth.
Matthew and Mari Beth are those close friends you have the look after you and make sure you're enjoying the finer things in life.
They always had the scoop on the hottest new eatery, best new exhibit at a museum, coolest new boutique or most delicious cup of coffee!
I'm so grateful to have them in my life.
More than ten years have passed, and they remain my go to source for inspiration, art and support.
Our lives and careers have blossomed, but our brunch conversation has stayed the same-
We cover everything from love, gossip, politics, art and Tom Cruise's (homo)sexuality...
I'm so happy that no matter what magnificent events have transpired, my friends remain true!
...and they're still taking me to the most lavish restaurants in New York City!
