Travel Day

Parking at a cement graveyard of cars,

Left abandon for days as their navigators fly to exotic locations like Cleveland, OH for work.

It can be brutal—almost as dreadful as the walk across this sea of pavement to the shuttle bus; 

Just in time for it to pull away.

Waiting at the gate like vultures;
Everyone wants to be in the first boarding group.
I blame roller bags.

Why do people wait until they've boarded an airplane to eat eat ethnic food?

When you take a Super Shuttle to save $5;

And the shuttle is twenty minutes late and has ten stops to make—that is rage!

Life On Tour

Travel days are rough.  I'm up too early, and I stay up too late.
Life on the road seems fun;
Until you're stuck there.

Up at 5 AM.

Thank God for Starbucks.

The shuttle driver proceeds cautiously at a snails pace to the airport-

TSA is surprisingly short,

So is my first flight.

Connection in Denver (I wish I had time to see my family). 

One day at home, then back on the road...

It's impossible to get enough sleep or look good.

Ah, the glamorous life!

Travel Day Poem

People are unaware,

Gone are the days of kindness.

Release helps bring peace.

Travel Day

Awake, but not conscious.

Sitting at another airport sipping on a watered down soy latte from Starbucks.

Surrounded by a small group of regular travelers (I can tell by the roadmap that marks their face and zombie eyes.)

I feel like a member of The Breakfast Club! Only our group would be called The Sleepless, Worn-down, Tired of this Lifestyle BUT Grateful for A Job Club.

Instead of getting detention we get delayed!

Out the door in time to stop at Starbucks!
Airport is empty-
Speed through TSA,
Get to the gate and run into a friend.
Just enough time for a quick hello!
Time to board...
I appreciate travel days when they're like this!
Hopefully a great sign for a breezy weekend!
