5 Minute Writing Exercise; The Word Was: Resonate

The hate was intolerable; it snuck into the darkest bowels of my soul––softer than when my younger sister would tiptoe in after missing her curfew.
I travel for a living so I felt the energy building long before my friends in Cali.  I knew the darkness would penetrate the light and take away everything that nearly a decade of change brought forth for my people. All people, fuck––for humanity.
The world buckled down with booze in both hands bracing for the nightmare that we’d have to live with––eyes wide open––for the next four years.
A sexual predator, a liar, a monster; our president; let that resonate.

The Starbucks Shuffle

Finding shade outside;
Trendy LA writers, actors, producers––the industry spends more time drinking coffee than working.
Although netWORKing is draining.
With my puppies on my lap, I happily create.
Life is beautiful. Especially outside in LA!

Inspiration or Not...

Some days the inspiration flows like beer at the Super Bowl;
Other times, it's as tough as a steak at Sizzler to dream up a topic.
The point of a daily creative writing, is to maintain the focus and habit.
So here I sit at my computer without a clue as to what I'm talking about.
Rambling senselessly like many of the winners of last nights Golden Globe awards.
Perhaps that is why I'm without a spark––aside from Tina and Amy's perfectly timed dazzling display of wit, snark and intelligence.  The show was boring and uninspired.
Proving that everybody has "off days"  even in Hollywood.

The Morning Grind

I'm not talking about my grande coffee from Starbucks-
(Although I do love a delicious breakfast blend in the morning!)
My day starts two hours before I'd like to admit.
In order to meet my daily goals, I find myself up before the rooster crows at dawn.
Oddly enough, I used to be a night owl but I realized I'm twice as productive in the morning.
So here I am attempting to be creative.
I've discovered that I may not always write a witty blog post, however the act of committing to a daily essay, poem, random thought or creative writing has encouraged me to invest in my growth as an artist and release the idea of perfection.  Which will lead to more opportunity and success! (Hopefully.)

Crunch Time!

...and I don't mean the gym!
I have a deadline and it's closing in.
Writing, edits and pictures to sort,
My book is due soon and I still have so much to do.
