I spent my twenties fighting for opportunities;
And most of my early thirties exploiting those experiences.
Now, I’m ready to begin enjoying the hustle.
As I confront the next decade I’m asking myself: what will bring me joy?
The answers are less about creative goals and more about quality of life.
Finding gratitude in the present and trusting that each day will bring me closer to the most evolved, enlightened, well-rounded man I can be.
My role model, my grandma, was inspirational beyond belief; not because of what she accomplished in life––but in who she was and how she lived her life.
That’s my new aim––not to be remember by what I accomplished, but rather in how I served humanity.

Mind Your Creativity
When my mind is still;
My sense of play is activated––I am free to be creative.
Without fear, my imagination kicks in and I’m off on a new adventure.
The static of life can cause insanity;
Over analyzing a situation beyond thoughtfulness and into the realm of negativity––darkness.
Only in the light can we clearly see the beauty of our inspiration.

A Trip To The Huntington Library
Waves from the Zen rock garden carry tranquility,
Encouragement jumps from original manuscripts by Chaucer,
Passion smeared across canvas,
Beauty in every direction; history sounds me.
The water fountains provide a baptism for inspiration.

Thank You
It’s a simple phrase, one which I’ve used a lot this week.
I’ve never felt such a genuine outpouring of support, praise, and admiration;
Teaching has always been something I’ve done as my “day job”.
It’s only now that I’m discovering that dancers and choreographers actually respect my approach to movement.
I’m overwhelmed with gratitude––when I wrote my book I had hoped that I might have an impact on someones dance career.
Working with dancers from around the world this week has single handedly reinvigorated my passion.
Thank you to all of the dancers, choreographers, and teachers who have reminded me that dance continues to be my pulse.
Let’s do this!

Inspiration or Not...
Some days the inspiration flows like beer at the Super Bowl;
Other times, it's as tough as a steak at Sizzler to dream up a topic.
The point of a daily creative writing, is to maintain the focus and habit.
So here I sit at my computer without a clue as to what I'm talking about.
Rambling senselessly like many of the winners of last nights Golden Globe awards.
Perhaps that is why I'm without a spark––aside from Tina and Amy's perfectly timed dazzling display of wit, snark and intelligence. The show was boring and uninspired.
Proving that everybody has "off days" even in Hollywood.

Never stop fighting for your dreams-
You never know who's counting on your positive energy to encourage them.
Inspiration is contagious!

#LifeOnTour
4 AM wake up call-
I'm getting ready as if I was actually awake.
It feels more like sleepwalking...
Stayed up too late watch the Oscars.
Boring show, still there were some inspirational moments-
I thought John Travolta's hairpiece have an amazing performance!
Now I'm off to the airport.
Back to LA. The dream continues.

ART!
A trip to the Getty Villa-
Inspired by the gardens, sculptures and view.
Reminded that culture and history surrounds us, if we open our eyes and soak it up.
The only way to tell a new story, is to understand how people before us told theirs.

A Short Story: How My Dream Turned Into A Career
Inspired by variety shows like: The Carol Burnett Show, You Can’t Do That On Television, In Living Color and Saturday Night Live, my passion for the entertainment industry was ignited! I remember the first time I decided to build a set. I was wide-awake in my bedroom late at night after watching an episode of In Living Color. My mind was whirling in a hundred different directions searching for a creative outlet. Influenced by a sketch that I’d seen Jim Carrey performer earlier in the evening I was eager to release my own inner entertainer. Without a firm plan, I decided to raid our linen closet searching for the largest sheets and blankets I could find. I began stapling the sheets to the ceiling in my bedroom to create the best version of a soundstage I could imagine. I snuck into the living room and “borrowed” the family camcorder that (in my opinion) had not been used to its full potential. Without a script or any idea of a concept, I searched through my closet to find whatever ridiculous outfit I could make into a costume; propped the camera up on its tripod; pressed record and began improvising. That improvisation sparked my journey as a performer and filmmaker. Whether acting, directing, dancing, choreographing or producing- I love the business of entertaining!

Dance!
Twirling,
Contracting,
Twisting,
Lunging,
Leaping,
Soaring-
Watching Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre last night reminded me that dance can have many interpretations, but in the end, the utlimate goal is to be moved!
And I was!
Pure joy!
