No, I’m not quoting Tyra Banks––in order to capture that perfect moment on film, models and actors have to “find their light”.
Imagine if the human collective could find the light, too.
Darkness exists everywhere––if you don’t believe me just turn on Fox News or CNN––depending on the angle you learn towards, you will see a slanted representation of anger, fear-based analysis, exploited “victims”, and sensationalized drama.
Too many people live in fear because it’s what they’re told to believe; conditioned over time to hate and challenge anyone who looks or thinks differently from them.
Now imagine if we (society) started to shine a positive spin on the spin cycle. What if we took positive action––however small––against every negative emotionally charged circumstance that we are witness to?
In total darkness, even the smallest crack of light is enough to lead us to a way out.

Grey LA
Headed into our fourth day of grey in LA––in May!
Even rhyming it sounds gloomy.
It feels more like winter in London, or every day in Seattle.
But the overcast skies can be a positive reminder;
Despite the trademark golden rays of Southern California––the birds are still chirping and protein shakes are still being consumed for that perfect LA body.
Sometimes life gives us dark days––but you can always find the light; even if it’s only on a movie set.

The Light in You
When the negative energy is overwhelming;
The mind becomes concentrated on giving into the doubt.
When you are surrounded by darkness externally;
Close your eyes and find the light inside––it will always be there.
We have the tools to triumph in even the darkest storms.

The Joy of Release
The intoxicating sense of gratitude;
Surrendering to the simple fact: We are in control of absolutely nothing.
The release of expectation––gives way to the joy of abundance.
Walking through the darkest trails only enables us to appreciate the light of a new direction.

Through Darkness Seek Light
Grey clouds roll in covering the perfect LA facade;
The rain is a sign of renewal,
And a reminder that in a storm, I seek the light of the sun.
The rays are still there hiding behind the darkness;
I search for a sliver of light––if I look close enough, I see a silver lining.

I am enLIGHTened
The moment of letting go;
A deep breath in and a giant exhale of toxic thought, fear, reaction, or energy.
Holding onto outdated ideas of who I am or what I’m meant to be, will not serve me today.
Questioning my future will not lead to a brighter tomorrow.
Understanding that the only way to a more connected, happy life is through acceptance.
Acknowledgment leads to enlightenment.

Find The Light
It’s thrilling to be awake early enough to watch the sky change from dark to light;
It’s remarkable how fast the transition is:
I glance outside to see a cold, dark winter morning,
Then a sliver of light cuts through the bare trees that line my backyard––and in a breath the sky is brilliant blue.
Another reminder that light will always overcome darkness.
