Whenever I face a complimentary (included in the price of the very expensive suite) hotel breakfast buffet, my former-fat-kid emotions return;
Even after years of yoga, Zen meditation, and plenty of career and colleague validation, I fight the instinct to drowned myself in extra salty eggs, buttery breakfast potatoes, and an overdose of sweet rolls.
Just when I think I’ve reached my bursting point, I like to cram down a toxic level of citric acid in the form of fresh cut pineapple, hand-squeezed grapefruit juice, and four cups of executive-level coffee loaded with heavy cream (did I mention I’m lactose intolerant?)
What can I say, I’m a sucker for the word “free”, and when on vacation (or work) I allow myself to be free with my feelings...even if it means eating them.

Ode to SunChips
A chip by any other name would not carry that same bright, whole grain saltiness.
A delightful memory from middle school, the heart healthy (or so the bag claims) snack that gave me the courage to face fourth period.
Don’t get me wrong, Doritos will always have a special place in my soul;
But SunChips have no artificial flavors or preservatives, so my gut can be happy without the guilty feelings...

Palm Springs; Day 3
I gain weight just looking at food––so Mexican dinner last night didn’t help me in the swimsuit department;
I’m on vacation, I can eat what I want.
I was able tune out the nagging demands of my job for a few hour yesterday––and thanks to a late night work session, I knocked out a few things on my “to do” list for today.
Hopefully I’ll be able to release a bit more today. Perhaps an extra cocktail poolside will help me chill in the 110 degree heat.
Vacation ends tomorrow, I need to enjoy today!

Cookies
My struggle with cookies goes something like this:
I don’t need it, so I’m not going to eat it.
Okay, just one. It’s small and once I have the taste in my mouth I want crave it anymore.
[Five minutes later]
One more won’t hurt––I ate a light lunch and dinner is a few hours away.
[2 hours and a whole bag of cookies later]
I can’t believe I ate the whole bag of cookies and I’m still hungry.]
[After dinner]
I wish I had dessert!

Random Thought Re: Food
I've decided that I'm not a foodie, I'm a fatty!

Note To Self:
When life gives you a free and delicious steakhouse dinner;
You take it.
Eat all of it. (Regardless of how fat you already feel because all you've been doing for the past week is consuming calories of every kind.)
Then, you regret it the next morning and tell yourself you CAN lose ten pounds in two days.
