On hold;
I sit annoyed, waiting for a human.
While waiting for contact with life,
My computer reminds me that it’s time to check in for my flight.
It’s a friendly reminder alert that reminds me: technological advancements can be frustrating... but sometimes they can save you from a middle seat on Southwest.

Technology Meltdown
Rage;
Connecting my iPhone to my Mac––they are made by the same company correct?
I don’t understand why syncing in the 21st century is still an issue.
Seriously, i HATE that track wheel!

Rage at Starbucks: I. HATE. TECHNOLOGY!
Eager to share a funny story, I logged on to my Tumblr account and was ready to start writing-
Forty-five minutes and fifteen attempts to sign-on later... I'm frustrated and over it!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I. HATE. TECHNOLOGY!

Technology Makes Me Rage!
Dear iMovie-
Thank you for sucking the life out of me.
I'm so happy I spent the better part of two weeks on a project that you would inevitably erase.
I'm even more grateful that you encrypted every single copy of the back-up I created, and destroyed all of the RAW footage.
As pleasurable as our relationship has been-
I am over you.
I will now use Final Cut Pro for everything concerning matters of my movie memories, in addition to the professional footage I shoot.
I can't say I'll miss you, let's just say I'll see you on my desktop and laugh at how terrible you really are.
Peace,
Matthew

Rant:
The only thing I hate more than a drivers who don't use turn signals,
are websites that don't work properly!
RAGE engulfs my entire being.
Why won't you load?
Why is there an "error" message?
Why does technology fail me!
WHY?! WHY?!
RAGE!

Technology Is Fun!
I just downloaded a new photo application for my iPhone.
I've spent the past forty minutes playing around with innovative ways to crop my niece and superimpose her onto funny backgrounds...
Yes, instead of working,
I've been playing with my iPhone.
So basically, not much has change since I was a teenager playing on my Nintendo Game Boy!

21st Century Lifestyle...
300 miles away from home or the office;
Last minute "urgent" work to be done...
The industry never stops!
Pop in to the nearest Starbucks:
Coffee and WiFi ASAP!
With my MacBook Pro, my iPhone and Skype I can conquer anything!
The best part, no one even needs to know I'm on vacation!
Social media, technology and a fast paced lifestyle can be overwhelming...
It can also allow you to live a life ANYWHERE!

ReconNEcT Working!
A new year, a new project.
Like many people, at the start of a new year, I like to set a few goals and resolutions.
Over the past four years, my commitment has included adding one creative project that I would do for the entire year.
It began as a way to stay focused on creativity and positive energy throughout the year.
(Not just in January!)
For example, this blog. The goal three years ago was to write a daily entry for a year to ignite my artistic flame. It worked so well, that here I sit three years later!
This year my objective is to send one (1) handwritten note, letter or card to a friend, family member or colleague every week for a year!
We have become a society overwhelmed with email, Facebook, Twitter and texting. Our online habits are killing human communication skills. People stand at parties texting other people at the same party! It's nuts.
I decided that a wonderful way to show someone you're thinking of them, would be to take the time and energy to hand-write a note and spend the money on a stamp...
My hope is that it will bring a smile to the person on the receiving end! In addition, it will encourage me to continue building my networking skills! I'm calling the project: ReconNEcT Working!
After all, everything in this world is about networking.
This week, I ReconNEcT Worked with a friend from high school. Mike Rose and I both went to the Orange County High School of the Arts, and have continued on a similar journey.
He has a hugely popular web series and is a wonderful performer.
So Mike, expect a letter from me... It should get there in three to five days!

When Technology Fails...
Take a deep breath,
and walk away.
There's no use bashing your brand new lap top just because Safari won't open!
It's too expensive to replace.
Plus, I don't need the stress!
I don't want to have a heart-attack before I'm 40.

Another Day At The Apple Store...
I love technology when it works the way it's supposed to!
And I rage when it doesn't!
The iPhone is hands down the coolest gadget of the Twenty First century...
But when it freezes, I feel like I'm trapped in the Dark Ages!
When I go for help at Apple Store, I feel like I'm talking to the cast of Star Trek!
Please don't give me your advice...
Just fix the phone!
Thanks.

Technology... It's all the RAGE!
Another long day;
I sang show tunes on my way home from teaching,
It put a smile on my face.
Then I got home and attempted to sync my iPhone;
The rage of the day came flooding back!
I really hate when technology gets the best of me...
The only way I'm going to release the anger is to sing a song about it!

Answer The Damn Call!
I admit it, I hate when people don't answer their phone! I guess I just don't get it...
I'm the type of guy that understands the importance of communication in the 21st Century. Gone are the days of the pager, pay phone and service line...
I also accept that not everyone has a "Type A" personality, so it's not like I'm completely unrealistic. I'm willing to wait a few days for someone to return a business call.
Hell, I'll even forgive my dad when it takes him a week to get back to me...
But where I lose my shit, is when I have arrangements with someone, and they decided not to respond to your calls, text's and emails as a way of bailing on you!
Really? That's your out? To blame 21st technology?
"Oh I didn't hear your call..." "Oh I didn't see your text until just now..." "Oh you sent it to the wrong email address..."
REALLY? I'm pretty sure I CC'd it to all five of your email addresses!
I mean, have you met me?
Honestly, I'm not crazy. If plans change, just pick up the phone and tell me. If you don't want to talk, shoot me a text. If you don't want a text war, send me an email...
But for God's sake, be a bigger person and respond! It's not like I'm the crazy stalker that wants to go out for another bad date with you. I'm the guy you made plans with to meet up and "text me when you're here..."
I'm here... and you're not responding to my text!
RAGE!
Oh shit, I have to go... my phone is ringing and I've been waiting 17 minutes for this call!

Big Brother Is Watching You...
It's official, I'm socially tapped in to the world!
The thought that once terrified me and sent me into a week long panic attack after reading George Orwell's book Nineteen Eighty-Four, in Mr. Goff's senior English class has become my reality!
I'm now linked, cross linked, integrated and plugged into every possible social website out there.
If I need a trusted opinion about the latest and greatest restaurant I'm thinking about eating at I can Yelp it. If I need to get a table at said restaurant, I can OpenTable it. If I want to let all of my friends across the world know I'm eating at that restaurant I can Facebook Place it. If I want to share a picture of my meal with everyone I will Tweet it. When I want to encourage new contacts to try it, I'll post it to Linkedin. When I'm ready to rave about that place myself, I'll go back to Yelp and write a review. Finally, when I'm ready to talk about the whole experience, I'll write a blog post, and share with everyone through GoogleBuzz!
And when the government wants to know exactly where I am and what I'm doing, I've given them a detailed map; with digital photocopies, bookmarks of every point along the journey including (but not limited to) a time stamped entry, my own personal commentary and an all access pass to use this information however they want!
Isn't technology wonderful!

Technology... Ain't It A Bitch?
I woke up today, and my computer decided that it didn't want to wake up with me...
Every day starts nearly the same for me:
I wake up.
Splash cold water on my face.
Do a quick workout / stretch / meditation routine.
Grab a cup of coffee.
Finally, around 10 am, I make my way into my office to; check emails, update my Facebook and Twitter accounts, write my daily blog post and work on my creative projects...
This morning was no different...
That is, until I walked into my office and sat down at my desk, and realized that my computer did not feel like waking up!
I have a very nice MAC book computer- and though it's several years old... there isn't a scratch on it! I take extremely good care of my possessions- Especially the expensive electronic ones!
There was no sign of malfunction in the hard drive, and no reason for it to stay locked in "sleep" mode.
Of course I have all of the information stored on my computers hard drive backed up on two different external hard drives, and a wireless back up floating somewhere in space.
So I'm not concerned about losing any of my information... I am however totally bummed that I'm not able to follow through with my morning ritual! Plus, I have a ton of writing to do...
I decided to take my computer to the Apple store and have them run a diagnostic test.
Luckily, I was able to get an appointment today, and was in the store within thirty minutes.
After arriving at Apple and explaining my situation, the Genius behind the counter headed to the back to run a complete test-
Several minutes passed, and when he returned, he had a big smile on his face. He informed me that everything checked out "A okay!" on their diagnostic, and continued to tell me that he reset the "motherboard" so everything should be "good to go!"
So I did just that. I walked out, relived that this trip didn't cost me any money, and I was assured that there was nothing wrong with my computer. It was just a matter of resetting the system...
I came home, plugged my computer in and sat down ready to get on with my social networking and online creativity-
...only to have the damn thing go to sleep in the middle of my blog entry!
Thankfully, I have access to another computer when it's not being used... Sadly, my blog entry was lost, and I had to write a new one (which is what you're reading now!)
What's worse- I have no idea what's wrong with my computer...
and neither do the "Genius's" at the Apple store!
It makes me really hate technology!
