My book, So You Want To Be A Dancer, was mentioned by Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night;
It was part of a segment that Jimmy rants about book titles that might not be a selling point.
The irony, is that my book is getting four times more attention thanks to his joke.
How did he (or his team) find out about my book? Is it fate or just dumb luck?
Who cares–––I’ve been a fan of Fallon since he was on SNL.
When he started on The Tonight Show, I knew his voice and playful humor was going to resonate with a new crowd.
Now, my book––and potentially me (if he takes me up on my offer to teach him some fresh new dance moves) are a part of television history!
Despite being the butt of a joke on late night, my credibility as an author just skyrocketed.
Just ask our president elect...”any press is good press.”

Auditions
Similar to going to the doctors office,
Auditions can be a painful experience-
The waiting room anxiety,
The fear that your going to hear something your not ready to learn about yourself,
The awkward “small talk”,
and then:
The naked vulnerability,
The only difference is that after the doctor, you leave with a lollypop!

That's A Wrap!
We wrapped on an awesome new project last night;
I love when dance and television collide,
Intelligent Latin women, full of passion and talent...
It doesn't hurt that they're all gorgeous!
We got what we needed from them,
Now the real work begins-
The most important part of the story:
Editing.
Ugh. It's a thankless job, but it has to get done.
Let's sell a show!

Back On The Road...
A line at TSA,
A line at Starbucks,
A line for the restroom,
A line to board the plane...
My life is full of lines!
Thank God I'm good at choreographing FAST formation changes!
Back to the glamorous life of dance competitions!

The Talent Continues...
Up at the crack of dawn,
Dancers warming up on stage-
How can anyone dance full out at 8 AM?!
Youth.
Ambition.
Drive.
Youth...
The life of a dancer;
Work hard. Never complain. And dance when you're told to!
Another weekend, another talent competition.

Again. Step, Kick, Kick, Leap, Kick Touch.
(A la A Chorus Line)
God I’ve got to learn it,
I’ve got to learn,
I teach the class tomorrow night!
Forcing myself to learn someone else’s choreography to sub a class…
It’s not that I don’t enjoy learning dance combinations,
I just don’t enjoy it.
I’ve spent 20 years learning, rehearsing, perfecting and performing other people’s work.
Which has given me the opportunity to start creating work of my own that people hire me for! (Thankfully)
So when I have to go back and learn something a specific way, I turn into a spoiled brat!
Nevertheless, a gig’s a gig! So…
Again. Step, kick, kick, leap, kick touch.

That's A Wrap!
It's always a blast to be on a set...
Especially when you get to hang out with a group of talented (and hilarious) dancers!
"Bunheads" was a blast!
But all good things must WRAP!
Thanks again Marguerite Derricks.

Dance Moms The Parody
All I can say is that I had the most fun so far making this parody!
It's completely inappropriate and perfectly accurate!
Please enjoy Dance Moms The Parody:
