The Year Ahead!

It's my lifelong mission to organize EVERYTHING.
The start of a new year presents a plethora of tasks:
Filing away last years crap,
Rearranging the office,
Labeling new file folders,
Marking important dates on the calendar,
OCDing about all of the projects and tasks I NEED to accomplish.
Where most people would spend their weekend enjoying the 75 degree sun in LA; I will be in the house crossing off the checklist!
One "To Do" at a time.
Maybe, (just maybe) I'll let myself go to Starbucks for a mid-day latté...
But not until I create my 2014 spreadsheet, and finalize my plan of attack for a well balanced new year!
#Balance will only come with a serious schedule!

Fearlessness!

Stress and anger;
Charged with fear.
Doubt yourself and you are doomed.
Anxious to set deadlines and accomplish another goal-
What’s the hurry?
When you finish that “urgent” project,
Three more tasks require “immediate action!”
Release.
Release and breathe,
Practice fearlessness.
The fear is not helping you succeed;
And it is KILLING your creativity!

Out With The Old...

…in with the healthier, more resolved me!

Isn’t it funny how we wait until the start of a new year to decide to do something good for
ourselves?

Naturally I fall victim to the idea that change can only happen in cycles;

I make lists, set goals and strive to be that better person.

Yesterday I sat down with my journal and wrote out all of the things I want to
accomplish in 2013.

(I’ve been doing this every year for well over ten years, and I’m always focused on setting
goals that are very ambitious.)

Generally I achieve some version of most of them too!

Yet there’s still one goal I write down every year, and work toward it every year, and still
some way or another it alludes me.

So my number one goal, dream, resolution… whatever you want to call it, is to release
every expectation I have for what the year, month, day or even minute “should” bring,
and stay active and present while “it’s” happening!”
Starting now.

Rather than reedit this blog post (like I do) to make sure it’s perfect, I’m off to join my
family and watch a movie!

Happy New Year.

May all your goals manifest exactly as they’re supposed to.

Reflecting

Another year comes to an end.
Three hundred and sixty five days--
365 opportunities to grow.
Some goals achieved,
Others are still a work in progress.
(Like life I guess.)
Dreams are sparked where we didn't imagine.
New doors open,
While other accomplishments seem less important.
Surprise victories!
Mild setbacks.
The beauty of life is in those moments you weren't planning for!
New friendships blossom, as some relationships drift apart.
Looking back with gratitude.
No regrets.
Now it's time to focus on new adventures.
Plan, set goals, make resolutions, dream big.
But remember we're only "promised" the present.
So don't forget to live NOW!
Happy New Year.

Goodbye Summer. Hello Fall.

It's official.
Fall is here and Summer is gone.
So throw on a few layers and grab your Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latté-
It's time to things done.
The week after Labor Day is always a rude awaking for me.  It's a short week to begin, and in those four days there is so much to get accomplished.
The challenge for me is to refocus on the goals that I set at the beginning of the year...
The way I see it, a September reboot is a must.
Kids return to school. We get a new Fall TV line up. Monday Night Football returns.
So naturally, I want a  fresh outlook on my 2012 goals!
Mainly, I want to accomplish them.
So with four full months ahead, it's time to kick it into high gear.
I had some fun in the sun this summer-
But now it's time to get back to WORK!!!

Proud Of My Dad!

I love my dad.
I'm guilty of not calling him enough...
But when we catch up on the phone, I'm always happy afterwards.
We just talked this morning because he had some cool news to
share with me-
My dad runs a plumbing, heating and engineering company in
Southern Colorado.
He just found out today that he was appointed to the
State of Colorado Examining Board of Plumbers by the Governor of Colorado!
An especially cool accomplishment considering my dad's a Republican
(gross I know....) and the Governor of Colorado is a Democrat!
That means my dad is exceptional at what he does.
Of course I realized that when I was a kid...
My dad gave up so many of his dreams to make sure that my
sister and I could follow ours...
So I'm pleased that my dad is rewarded for his years of hard work!
Congratulations dad!
I love you.

That's Life

Today I had a list of shit on my desk a mile long of all the things that I needed to get accomplished...
Guess what?
I got to cross two things off that list!
What a sad day.
It hurts my head and my heart when I don't get to slash a bold line across some silly task that should only take five minutes to finish!
UHG.
Like my Gram always says, "That's life Mattsky! You've got to take the good with the bad."
I'm ready for the good to keep back in!

Mission Accomplished!

I'm sitting in front of a computer screen in a gorgeous home with a decedent view of a snow covered mountain in Beaver Creek, Colorado. I was invited to my friends father's house for the New Year, and I honestly cannot think of a more appropriate way to finish out 2010.
Ordinarily the end of a year is always a little tough for me. I'm sentimental by nature, and I get emotional with the end of almost anything-
This year is a completely different feeling for me. I think for the first time ever, I truly lived in the moment each and every day. I set out to conquer my goals and resolutions, and I spent the majority of my time focused on creating opportunities and enjoying the process along the way.
It was no small task to sit down and force myself to share my deepest thoughts, dreams, setbacks, disappointment, heartache and Private emotions. Nevertheless, I gained such joy from releasing these ideas into the universe without fear of judgement. Plus, the act of this daily routine really sparked my creative juices.
Make no mistake, I'm not delusional- I realize that more than half of my entries are just the silly ramblings of a crazy guy with big ambitions. Still, I'm impressed that I actually found the energy to focus (even if only for ten minutes a day) on writing out a thought, feeling or experience that might help me get a step closer to my ultimate goal.
I decided to blog for myself. There was no expectation of achieving a huge cult following or to be picked up for my phenomenal literary skills- My only hope was that blogging would encourage me to stay active in my journey as an artist.
I'm thrilled to report, it has. I've gained a level of self-achievement that is directly associated with the success of my personal growth as an actor, choreographer and person.
I learned a great deal about myself and my approach to life from these entries. Most of all, that if I deal with my feelings in the moment, and release them, I'm fully competent to continue on a positive path toward the direction of my ultimate dream. I guess it was a way for me to manifest the energy and passion inside and help me to guid it in the right direction.
I'm ready for 2010 to come to an end, because I maxed out the full potential in each day. I'm inspired and looking forward to the amazing adventures that are in store for 2011 and beyond.
So, this is it... My final daily blog entry for 2010! I'm grateful to those of you who may have stopped by to enjoy an entry in the past year, and to those who followed each day- I hope that my stories sparked at least one person to take a bold step in the direction of their dream, or at the very least brought a smile to someones face...
I will not be writing a daily entry in 2011, I've decided to use my creative juices to finish a book that I started over a year ago... I will however be back weekly to share my adventures in 2011. I'm not sure if I will stick to a specific day, but I promise I will check in once a week- after all, it would be impossible now to imagine my life without a blog!
Here's to another year full of love, passion, creativity and success-
Happy New Year!
