Sunny Saturday

A visit from my Australian friend, currently living in New York;
Breakfast, gossip, and laughter.
The golden rays are smiling down from the deep blue sky.
It’s the perfect people watching location;
And Los Angeles never disappoints in that department.
It’s a scene; and I love it.

Let's Go For A Hike!

Dump trucks on their morning route,
Birds chirping,
Squirrels chasing tail,
A black Mercedes speeds down the hill––late for an important meeting––not my problem.
“Slow down!” I yell as the driver passes.
Half jokingly––I stay calm (because it’s a beautiful day, I’m off and he’s not) but seriously––he could have killed someone.
My legs are sore from too much yoga.
This canyon breeze feels so good on my zinc covered face.
I love hiking in LA––it’s good to get out in nature and leave the business behind for awhile.

Starbucks NYC

It’s been fourteen years since I’ve lived in New York City;
And it’s as if no time has passed as I write from the Starbucks on 40th and Lexington Avenue.
This was not my “home” Starbucks, but aren't they all the same?
I spent so many hours of my life (pre-marriage) journaling, dreaming, and plotting my career path in a Starbucks;
Surrounded by strangers who felt like family at Starbucks––we all shared common themes: aspiring actor–writer–director–students–without–air conditioning in the summer heat.
Which is very similar to my circumstances today.
While I’m much older––and can actually afford air-conditioning now; I am in a city that I no longer have a home––so I found solace in my family at Starbucks.
In between meetings and meeting up with friends, I happily hack away at my computer––finishing a chapter in my new book, and catching up on emails.
The traffic is at a standstill, but my creativity is in full-force;
That’s the beauty of New York––once you're here, you can’t fight the energy.
I’m delighted to visit NYC for a trip down memory lane, however, I’m so grateful that I achieved my goals in this city––with nothing to prove here––I enjoy visiting friends, working my gig, and returning home to my family!
I enjoy NYC, I LOVE LA.

Sundays In LA

It's rare when I get to enjoy a Sunday morning at home with my family.
Usually I'm waking up in a hotel bed in a random city across the country; getting ready to spend my day in a theatre.
So I'm taking advantage of this elusive day:
Breakfast in bed,
Walking to Starbucks with the puppies,
Hike in the Hollywood Hills,
Pooltime,
Dinner with friends,
and finally a late night movie in bed!
Full circle.
I love Sundays in LA.

Lost in the blue sky,
Living California dreams.
Work first, play later.

Rain In LA

The rain in LA,
I love the fresh smell it brings.
The drivers suck though!

Addicted to Starbucks!

I love lazy mornings.

Walking the puppies to Starbucks.

Waiting in the massive line,

The pulse of LA starts beating in unison with the barista's frother.

Sitting outside in January!  

Lost in a sea of sunshine and coffee-

Stress Free Saturday!

Sleeping in,
Awake to coffee,
Turn on cartoons,
Up by noon.
Ready for some pool time,
Drenched in sun.
Always ready for nightlife.
Yay for the weekend!

Blue skies,
80 degrees with a gentle breeze;

Laughing with friends,
Sipping mojitos,
But definitely NOT eating!

Monday Back in LA!

After a a summer on tour,
I'm so grateful to be back in town.
Hustling for meetings,
Creative writing sessions,
and
Maybe even a Monday morning movie matinee?
It's so good to be back in LA!

The sun is out,
The skies are blue,
Gorgeous tans,
Tight bodies-
Surrounded by healthy, happy, smiling people.
I LOVE LA!

Rise and Hike!

I love waking up early in LA-

The sun is still hiding behind the morning marine layer,

The streets are calm, and so am I.

A hike through the hills surrounding my house,

It's easy to meditate and enjoy the magical Los Angeles skyline.

I'm reminded of how gorgeous LA is.

As I take in the smell of the jasmine and lavender that fill the air, 

I appreciate how easy life can be.

I'm inspired to keep my calm, focused, energy throughout the day.

Now is the perfect time to create!

Grey LA

Even overcast and gloomy,
LA is a vibrant city.
Everywhere you look tan people casually stroll along in their neon colored skinny jeans, bold patterns and over-the-top designer sneakers...
It might be; "fake" "trying too hard" or "ridiculous."
But it sure makes me smile when the sun won't!
I love LA!

Morning Hike

The birds are chirping,

No traffic yet,

Even with a chill in the air and a layer of morning fog-

LA is magical.

Surrounded by Palm trees, 

Passing nannies and the morning dog walkers,

Millions of ideas, goal and dreams swirling through my mind...

Climbing the steady hill past all of the celebrity homes,

The view is magnificent at the top,

And my mind becomes clear, focused and ready to greet the day!

January and It Feels Like July!

When it's sunny in LA, get out and play!

The beach is always the perfect option,

Blue skies and 80 degrees in January?!

God I love the West Coast. 

Silver Dreams

It's already a gorgeous day in Los Angeles.

I sit overlooking the silver shimmer that reflects off of the vast city-

Stretching all the way out to the peninsula where I grew up.

As my eyes scan the land of dreams,

My own childhood desires come speeding back!

I left this city once in pursuit of new discoveries-

Only to return home to finally accept,

I belong here.

My heart yearns for the sun-drenched streets lined with palm trees-

Where stars are more visible in the daylight.

Like an overexposed 80's song,

I love LA!

Saturday Morning Hike

Roll out of bed.
Throw on workout clothes-
Force myself out the door;
It starts off slow.
Before I know it my thighs are burning,
Sweat rolling into my eyes,
Knees feel like I must be seventy years old;
It's been a while since my last hike!
Almost to the peak;
The view is beautiful!
Los Angeles-
I love this city!
Why don't I do this more often?
