The Day After...

When you wake up from a five (okay ten) day food-fest and your stomach is roaring, “ENOUGH!”
It’s time to take a step back from the holiday temptations and reintroduce myself to vegetables.
The final warning shot was fired yesterday, whilst during a Black Friday shopping mishap, I popped a button off of a pair of Ted Baker slacks in “my size.”
Needless to say I left the mall without making a single purchase;
So hey, the upside to my weight gain, is that I’m saving my bank account from a weight loss!

December Cheer

The year is near an end.
Goals have been accomplished––or not.
It’s time to reflect and give thanks for the many adventures in 2016;
And to release the setbacks, disappointments, and overzealous demands.
The year was complete––exactly as it was supposed to be.
Now relax, give thanks––eat, drink, and be merry!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through our condo;
Not a creature was stirring,
Because we’re all lounging on our brand new sofa!
The stockings are hung and our fireplace is glowing,
Our tree is gleaming;
And thank God it’s not snowing––it’s a fabulous perk of living in LA.

The Calm Before Christmas

The end of the year approaches faster than department stores axe their Halloween displays and deliver us Christmas.
Longing to delight in the decadence of the festive season, I plan too many parties, dates with friends and family, and overbook my schedule;
Leaving me overwhelmed and stressed.
Every year I remind myself to enjoy the moment and appreciate each event, but I end up spending more time just trying to stay calm and get through it.
So today, I’m offering myself the chance to binge watch cheesy Christmas movies (thank you Hallmark Channel) while wrapping presents, chatting on the phone with loved ones, and yes––eating too many Christmas treats.
Tis The Season.

Family Vacation Day 2

Early morning wake-up call;
Five grown adults and a kid have to shower.
I’ll let them fight over who goes first––I need a Starbucks!
The drive to Disneyland will be long:
Puppies in tow.
Christmas cheer among the crowds waiting in line for a thirty second ride;
Tis the season!
I love having my family in town.

The Yoga Challenge:

Going back to yoga after a week of nonstop eating...
That's the challenge!
You can do it... is what I'm telling myself while looking at my gut in the mirror.

Holiday Cheer?

Is rapidly turning into Holiday fear!
Too many people to please,
Too many places to go.
Too much work to accomplish,
Next year, I've decided I'm flying somewhere far away from the family.
No offense, I love them-
But I hear that Rome is beautify this time of year..,

Labor Day

Alas, the time has come;
The grill was used a lot this summer,
Too many hamburgers, chips and French onion dip-

Children everywhere are bummed;
Time to swap swimsuits and trips to the mall,
For backpacks and long hours in the library.
Remember the smell of a classroom?
Or back to school shopping?

I do love the aroma of fall though;
Wearing layers of clothing-
Football games.

Why do we get a special holiday for working anyway?
Isn't that what weekends are for?
Whatever. I enjoy any excuse for a three day celebration!
Even if it means that yet another summer is over!
