Motivated Monday!
I've got emails to send,
Phone calls to return,
Bills to pay,
Gigs to line up,
Pre-production work to start,
Social Media outreach,
and I've already meditated, exercised and did my creative writing.
Today is going to be a kick-ass motivated Monday!

Olympic Gold!
Today I'm going to set an Olympic World Record of my own...
"Most hours spent on a couch watching men's volleyball, men's gymnastics and men's swimming on Picture-in-Picture!"
Ordinarily I am NOT a sports fan.
But there's something about an athlete competing for gold that gets me excited.
Okay, I'm not going to lie...
Their tight, spandex uniforms don't hurt.
They had me at Red, White and Bulge...
Go USA!

Two Days Later...
Body aching.
Legs are weak.
Shoulders tense,
and my back is in agony!
I might have "killed it" at my audition-
But it sure feels like the audition killed ME more!

The Glamorous Life...
I grew up dreaming that I would always be able to follow my passion and do what I love.
As and adult I rarely take for granted that I get to wake up every day and live the life I dreamed.
Despite the fact that my body is in major pain today,
I'm thrilled that I spent my day yesterday auditioning for a new show.
As much as I love working collaborating with artists as a director and producer-
Yesterday reminded me of how much I still love the opportunity to perform.
I love to dance, sing and act.
It's what I grew up doing and it will always be in my blood.
Even when I'm eighty years old!
My day continued to shine when a dear friend invited me to a home in the
Hollywood Hills that she was staying at...
It was magnificent!
Everything you'd dream of owning if you were a big Hollywood movie star.
I'm not quite there yet...
But looking back on all of the wonderful adventures I've had in my life,
I remembered how lucky I am.
I get to do what I love everyday!
And that is The Glamorous Life!

Another Day...
Another social networking site?!
Just when I thought I had the social networking all plugged in...
I discovered Pinterest?
If Jessica Alba is talking about it on The View, it must be worthy.
Do I really need to sign up for another marketing ploy guised as a social
networking site?
YEP!
If it's out there, I'll connect.
Far be it from me to miss out on an opportunity to network and build
my brand! LOL
Click here to visit / follow me on Pinterest!

Dear Anne Hathaway,
Thank you.
You've been a princess, a wife married to a gay man,
a fashion victim turned gay mans best friend and a Queen!
a fashion victim turned gay mans best friend and a Queen!
You make us laugh and cry.
You can dance, you can sing, girl you've even got
that swing in your step as Catwoman
that swing in your step as Catwoman
You're gorgeous,
Seemingly down-to-earth on and off camera,
Smart. Sexy. Playful. Talented. Charming.
I'm looking forward to the day that I get to work with you!
Let's have lunch.
Peace,
Matthew

You Got To Do What You Got To Do...
Sometimes in life you have to make tough decisions and say things to
people you don't necessarily want to say aloud, but they need to hear.
I've been putting off sending an email to a friend and colleague.
This morning, I forced myself to compose the dreaded email and click "send."
There's a huge part of me that feels relieved that I shared my point of view
(even though it was unsolicited.)
Of course, there's a large part of me that wonders if they're willing
to hear what I said without feeling they need to defend their actions.
The truth is-
I care about this person and believe they're talented and creative.
I just have to trust my instinct.
If the tables were turned, and a friend offered advice to me that would
help me succeed on my path-
It would bruise my ego, and then I'd remember that my ego is not
important...
But becoming a stronger, more creative person is.
I'd listen to what they had to say, and attempt to implement their ideas to see if the work!
Let's hope my friend will do the same!

The Satisfaction...
In school I was forced to read books that teachers deemed important-
I enjoyed a few and loathed many.
Ultimately, I learned from all of them.
As an adult one of my favorite hobbies is reading.
I love essays, memoirs and historical based fiction.
I strive to read two books a month...
Sometimes I find the time,
Usually I'm lucky if I have the time to finish a book every two months.
The exact opposite of my goal.
In the summer I spend a lot more time traveling for work and pleasure, so I have more time to read.
It's for that reason that I seek out a book that is juicy, well reviewed and epic.
This summer I decided to read Stieg Larsson's third and final installment-
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.
Despite the fact that it is a New York Times Bestseller, and that I read and loved the first two books, I was worried that the final book wouldn't have the closure I was looking for.
Considering that Stieg has since passed away, I feared I wouldn't like the end and I'd be angry.
Fortunately, I just finished the last chapter and the satisfaction is euphoric!
Too bad Stieg died so early in his life and career as a writer. He told a very well crafted story!

Let's Do This!
A walk on the boardwalk with drink in hand-
Drinks at a bar on the boardwalk.
Pitstop at another bar on the way back to the hotel- drinks...
A drop in at Seacrets to visit with friends, drink in hand.
Time for bed, but first...
A quick drink at the hotel bar. (Naturally)
Five hours of sleep- No drinks!
Time to get up and work...

Shooting in Denver
I'll never understand senseless acts of violence-
People trapped in a theatre while a shooter opens fire.
There are sick people in the world.
I'm sad that innocent people died because of one disturbed man!
Prayers for the families of the victims.

Don't Get Snotty!
I'm convinced there's nothing worse than summertime allergies!
Yes, you may be able to prove me wrong...
But my point is CLEAR.
Unlike my nasal passages!
Where the hell is all of this snot coming from?
I blow my nose every three seconds, and still there's more?!
The most upsetting part is that I spend the majority of my day on the phone
or teaching class, and NO ONE can understand what I'm saying!!!
Then I lose my temper and get really SNOTTY...
Literally.
Ugh.
I hate summer pollen, dust and shifts in the weather.
But I do love the SUN!

Sometimes Things Work Out...
Sometimes they don't.
The point is that I put myself "out there."
The rest is out of my control!
The funny thing is, it always works out for the best~
Even when I think I've sacrificed too much,
I'm shocked when something more wonderful comes along and I'm free to snatch it up!

Time For A Change...
It's crazy how a simple haircut and style can change your outlook on life.
I've realized this about myself...
When I start to feel less than confident or fabulous,
it's probably because I need a haircut!
Random, I know.
But the truth.
When you start to feel down and out...
Change something about your appearance and you
rediscover your inner "player."
For less than $40.00, I can get my hair cut and styled
and feel like the a million bucks!
People notice too!
I love that about life.
When you need a little self-confidence boost-
Remember... it's time for a hairstyle change!

Writing in the Dark-
It's tough, but necessary to write in the dark when sharing a hotel room with a colleague.
It's not like I can say, "Hey, I know it's 6 AM and we're not called to the theatre until 9 AM, but I'm on a schedule, so I have to get up now and journal. Then I'm going to exercise while watching the Today Show. I hope you don't mind..."
Oh the joys of the glamourous life on the road!

What Happens In Vegas...
Let's just hope there's some truth to that played out marketing slogan!
I landed in Las Vegas last night and woke up with the worst allergies EVER!
My eyes are watery, red and itchy.
My nose is caked and crust with dried up snot-
And my throat is irritated and full of phlegm...
If I didn't know better, I'd suspect a summer head cold...
But I DO NOT get colds!
So it must be allergies...
Claritin take me away!

A Day In LA...
Morning meditation, stretch, journaling and blog post-
Matinee at AMC... I'm thinking Ted, but there's always Magic Mike?!
Brunch with friends- I LOVE Eggs Benedict and a mimosa.
Followed with afternoon pool time;
I fully intend on catching up to Hollywood speed with a few the trashy tabloid magazines!!!
Dinner at home with the puppies.
It's a tough day...
But when you only have one day off in LA you have to use it right!

Happy Birthday America!
In honor of America's birthday I think everyone across the country, from sea to shinning sea, should throw a big BBQ bash and light fireworks at the beginning of the hottest month on earth!
Sounds like the perfect way to say I love you America, now let's celebrate! We'll drink a lot of beer and play with fire...
Happy Fourth of July!
Thank you to all of the brave men and women who have served or continue to serve our country.
Be safe!

Hallucinations
It's starting slowly,
She's seeing things that aren't there.
How do you take away an independent woman's freedom?
The alternatives are not an option.
She will hurt herself or someone else.
The disease is moving fast.
It's not something I can't fully grasp-
She has always been my rock.

A Marriage Made in Xenu!?
It's official!
Arguably the most talked about and absurd marriage in Hollywood history is ending!!!
Insiders close to Tom Cruise have always insisted that Tom "loves" Katie, and that their marriage was not a Hollywood power play, arranged by the "church" of Scientology...
After all, nothing says "love" like a five year contract.
Or what about the (alleged) fact that Tom has divorced each of his wives at the tender age of 33?
Perhaps because that's when their boyish looks start to fade-
Whatever the reason, Katie and Tom are calling it quits.
I seriously doubt if anyone on this planet or Xenu for that matter is shocked...
Still, I can't resist to repost the parody that we at A Group Production shot just last month!
Who knows? Maybe our video was the antidote that Katie needed after watching all of the brainwashing videos she was shown when she joined the "church" of Scientology?

Smoking In Restaurants
I guess because I live on a coast I'm a snob...
But I can't understand for the life of me why anyone would want to eat in a restaurant oozing with smoke!
I'm not a smoker, nor have I ever been-
But I'm that "friend" who always accompanies the smokers outside.
Mainly because it's fun to be social, and the "smokers club" is always interesting.
However, eating my healthy salad while breathing in the Camel unfiltered that the 200 pound man at the table next to me puffs on is just NASTY!
Dear Missouri-
Smoking in restaurants is just gross.
I felt like I was in Germany circa 1997...
It's not hip and cool, it's just smelly and wrong.

The Real Housewives of Orange County Parody
After two years of requests... we finally decided that Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Orange County was something that A Group Production could parody in our playful and oh so brutally honest way! I give you The Real Housewives of Orange County Parody:
Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did writing and shooting it!

Back in Branson
It seems like just yesterday I was sneaking into McGuffy's bar for an ice cold 20 oz Bud Light in a frosted mug, here in Branson after one of the evening shows at The Moon River theatre...
Alas, that was over twelve years ago!
I was twenty years old and felt invincible.
Naturally I've grown up a lot since then-
I can no longer stay up until 4 AM and then roll into the theatre for a matinee the next day. I also prefer wine over Bud Light (unless of course I'm at a beer pong tournament, a sporting event or eating pizza.)
However, I am happy to report that I still have that same great feeling when I walk onto a stage for the first time or get to perform.
It's strange working in a place you've worked before after a full decade has passed.
In many ways time stands still, the smell of cedar still fills the air and the memories come flooding back!
Branson was my playground in my early twenties-
It will be interesting to see what fun adventures I can have (clearing throat) early thirties?!

Focus Grasshopper
It's easy to find your Zen in a tropical paradise like Hawaii-
But to maintain calm in Los Angeles,
It requires a lot of focus!
The toughest part is remembering to let go...
Even when you have a set back,
Like that asshole who cut me off yesterday and almost caused a wreck-
I have to let it go.
The worst is waking up overwhelmed...
I didn't have that in Hawaii, why do I have it in LA?
Oh right, because I'm back in reality.
Ok-
Deep breath in and release.
That problem is only a only an issue because I haven't solved it yet.
Focus on the task at hand, apply positive action, cross it off the list and move on!
The grasshopper is learning.
...VERY slowly!

Meetings, Auditions and Packing Oh My!
Back in Los Angeles for less than two days and already the action is packed.
I'm not complaining-
I actually appreciate the steady beat.
It's nice to take some time in a restful place like Hawaii to put things in perspective, step back and gather your thoughts.
It's also rewarding to return with a clear head and reinvigorated drive!
I'm ready for my week of meetings, auditions and a trip to competition town U.S.A.
Like my aunt always says,
"Work hard, play hard, vacation often!"
Now it's time to get to work...

Out Of Paradise...
Why is it so much harder to wake up early in Los Angeles?
When I was in Hawaii I was up at 5:00 AM every morning.
Here in LA, I'm lucky if I can peel myself out of the bed by 8 AM!
I guess it's more fun to wake up with the sun, when it rises in paradise~
No matter how difficult it may be, my goal is to compromise...
I'm going to strive to wake up at 6 AM.
I just have to remember how much more I can accomplish when I don't sleep half the day away!
Like my Grandpa Smith always says,
"There's plenty of time to sleep when you're dead!"
Late to bed, early to rise, keeps a man living a full life!

AT&T Employees- Unfriendly and Alleged Gay Bashers?!
As a long standing customer of AT&T, I've always known that their employees were not the nicest group of customer service providers. But based on the response to a video I posted on YouTube from one of their "alleged" employees, apparently they bash on the gays when they put customers on hold!
Here is the comment I received from a YouTube viewer that claims he is an employee of AT&T:

Remembering Grandpa's Spirit
It's hard to accept the idea that everything happens for a reason.
But the older l get, the more I discover the philosophy to be true. When my grandpa passed away in 2009, I wasn't sure how I would move forward. I had never lost a close loved one and the pain was deep.
I've mentioned in previous posts just how much my grandpa influenced my life. Even on his last day, he reminded me of how proud he was of me, and not to be sad. He knew he was dying, and he only thought of his family and their feelings.
This was how he lived his entire life.
He shared with me his unconditional love, support and wisdom.
After he passed, I began wearing one of his gold rings that my grandma gave me.
For me it was a reminder of him, of course. However it was more than that. The ring was a daily affirmation of his life and spirit. It encouraged me to remember his words, love, support and to make the most of every day.
I have worn the ring every day for over two and a half years.
After having it resized this past December to wear on a different finger, I got in this terrible habit of taking it off. The way the ring sat on my finger after being refitted was awkward.
I made a mental note to be careful. I did NOT want to lose this ring. It was was not worth more than a few hundred dollars, but the emotional attachment was irreplaceable.
On my flight to Hawaii last Sunday, I used the washroom on a layover flight in San Francisco. I took the ring off in the boarding area to reapply hand lotion and the ring must have fallen out of my pocket. It wasn't until we were taking off that I realized that it was gone.
Not exactly the way you want to start a long overdue and needed vacation in paradise!
When I arrived in Hawaii, I asked a flight attendant if a ring had been turned in. A passenger overheard me, and told me that they had found a ring in San Francisco and it was turned into lost and found.
At that moment, I decided that if it was meant to be, I would get the ring back.
I called United Airlines and filed a lost articles report. I had low expectations of ever seeing that solid gold ring again.
I released it and began enjoying my vacation.
While I was in Hawaii I was able to relax, regroup and regain a calm gratefulness. I spent hours at a time meditating in the healing waters. I felt centered. I remembered the power of positive energy and faith.
It's so easy to give into fear and self doubt. But when I took the time to check in with myself and sit quietly in the presence of God- everything was clear.
If I make time to meditate, journal and exercise, I feel centered and confident. Naturally, when I feel centered and confident I'm more readily available to succeed at the task or challenge in front of me.
In the still of my enlightenment, while floating in the ocean in Maui, I acknowledged that I have experienced so many amazing adventures. I've accomplished so many wonderful goals.
I have never gone without- and I can't help but believe it is in large part because of my faith.
Three days into my vacation I received a phone call from United.
They found my grandpa's ring and it was being mailed back to me.
It's funny, my grandpa was the man who (on his death bed) encouraged me to live a full life without fear and trust that "everything happens for a reason." Two and a half years later the loss and return of his ring, would once again encourage me to trust in myself and the journey that I am on.
Release the doubt and embrace faith!
I also learned something while the ring was missing; I understood that the wisdom, encouragement and memory of my grandpa was not in a ring-
It was in his spirit.
And his spirit is not in gold or even a photograph, rather his spirit lives inside of me.
It is in my heart and soul.

Side Note: Grandma's Parkinson's
I call grandma several times a day to remind her to take her medication-
She has Parkinson's disease and the pill she takes five times a day helps her to function and talk with more ease and regularity.
The only problem is if someone doesn't reminder her, she may forget to take it.
That's where I come in...
Aside from the fact that I've been talking to my grandma almost everyday since I left home at eighteen to follow my dreams, calling her to take her pill is an opportunity to visit with her and make sure she's well.
Lately however, she's been forgetting her phone in various places; restaurants, friends' houses, the car...
(Most likely because of her illness or ironically enough a side effect of her medicine.)
Regardless, it is frightening for me!
My mind begins to wonder.
When I finally get ahold of her, she feels bad.
That, of course is not my goal.
So today when I called and finally reached her- she started laughing.
Without my prompt she said, "you're going to have to start reminding me to check for my phone so that you can call me to take my pill!"
We both laughed out loud at the hilarious thought.
That's what I love and admire most about my grandma- her spirit has never ceases to shine, no matter what life throws her. Her faith is strong.
I hope to be as wealthy as her one day!

Hawaiian Holiday Day 7
The bags are packed, it's time to go-
Only a few hours left in tropical heaven.
We combed the lavender fields,
We swung from the trees into the deep pools of water at Twin Falls,
We sailed off to Lahaina,
We ate delicious meals and drank plenty of Lava Flows,
We watched the gorgeous sunset every night over the water;
But my favorite part was meditating in the healing ocean waters in paradise!
This was an enlightening journey for me-
I don't use the word vacation, because it was much more than that. This trip was healing. It was a reminder to release and surrender to the glory of God. Whatever form or version of Him you believe in, for me there's no mistake in the presence of something greater than I-
I get so caught up in making my life happen the way I want it to, but the lesson I remembered here in Hawaii is that something more wonderful and divine is at work.
When you're a kid you imagine what your life will be as a big picture, as you grow up you discover the bliss is captured in the frames between.
Aloha!

Hawaiian Holiday Day 6
I was told that it was a Hawaiian tradition to stack rocks and offer up a prayer-
So when I spoke to my grandma yesterday and she asked me to place a rock with her name on it near the beach... I thought this would be the perfect compromise!
Now my grandma will have an ocean front view in Hawaii!

Hawaiian Holiday Day 5
Just when you think paradise couldn't get better...
There are several spots along the road to Hana where you will find hiking trails that bring you back to a hidden waterfall.
Yesterday, rather than taking the full trip to Hana (it's a must see while you're on Maui, but takes a full day.) Our goal was to swim in a waterfall and be back to Wailea for sunset Lava Flow's...
Mission accomplished!
We hiked back about two miles, the entire way surrounded by gorgeous trees, colorful vegetation and the winding river.
When we arrived at Twin Falls we were ready for a refreshing dive into the pond!
Just about anywhere you go on Maui, you will discover a secret treasure!

Hawaiian Holiday Day 4
Good things come to people who get up at 5:00 AM every
morning on vacation in Hawaii...
On the fourth day- the sun rose up from behind Haleakala volcano!
It was an explosion of light and a burst of color.
Definitely worth the wait!

Hawaiian Holiday Day 3
Sunrise... Sunset!
Yesterday I woke up early to watch the sunrise, and saw nothing but grey skies!
Thankfully last night we had the pleasure of sipping multiple Lava Flows and eating the most outrageously decadent off-the-bone braised short ribs from the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a at the Grand Wailea while watching this sunset:

Hawaiian Holiday Day 2
Not every sunrise is beautiful... even in Hawaii.
I woke up at 5 AM to witness the gorgeous pink, orange and purple sunrise that I heard my family bragging about yesterday morning.
Naturally today the skies were grey and cloudy.
But every cloud has a silver lining. Literally. There was a stunning silver lining that wrapped around the horizon. The sun peaked through a cloud and the sky turned blue!
Every day is paradise in Hawaii!
Even when it's grey and cloudy!

Accepting Loss...
Today should be a wonderful day-
After several incredibly stressful but highly productive months of work and creativity, I'm on my way to Hawaii for a week long vacation.
Paradise right?
Unfortunately my trip started off with an emotional misstep.
I have a terrible habit of removing my grandfathers ring that I'd started wearing after he passed away.
It was a simply solid gold class ring that he wore in high school and I've worn every day since his death.
While the ring itself was probably only worth a few hundred dollars, the emotional connection was priceless.
Somewhere between the bathroom and the terminal I took the ring off to apply some lotion hand lotion.
Ordinarily I take special care to put the ring in my pocket and return it to my finger as soon as I've finished the task at hand. This time I was careless.
The worst part is, I didn't realize the ring was no longer on my finger until the airplane was speeding down the runway.
After talking to the flight attendants I learned that the only thing I can do is contact the airport when I land in Hawaii to see if anyone has turned it in...
I'm devastated!
I have no one to blame but myself.
I've lost a piece of my grandfather that I wasn't ready to give up.
So it looks like my vacation is starting with sadness, guilt, punishment and the fact that I have to accept the kiss of my grandpa all over again...
And on Father's Day!

When You've Had a Long Day...
...and you have three more until you're on an airplane to paradise-
Order Chinese food, wait an hour to get it, chow down and then relax.
Tomorrow will get here soon enough!

Looking Back...
I try not to live in the past.
Life is short, so I'd rather spend my time enjoying the present-
Nevertheless, there are those moments when you can't resist the urge to sneak a peak of an old journal or photo album!
I just took a forty five minute parade down Memory Lane...
It's interesting to read your own writing from fifteen years ago.
Things have changed since then (mostly for the better.)
However, I'm more intrigued with what hasn't changed, and why?
My passion, determination and goals are very similar to those I possessed when I was still nineteen-
The only difference is that now I know how to use them!
I guess looking back from time to time can help me appreciate the opportunities and continue to fight for the people and things I love.

Book It!
Only five short days away from a trip to Hawaii!!!
What relaxing vacation would be complete without a few juicy summer books to read?
I think I found the perfect summer selection-
I'm going to kick start the vacation reading Tina Fey's book Bossypants!
Who knows where I'll go from there...

Addicted to Crack TV!
I think it's no surprise that I'm a Reality TV crack junkie!
I love watching people with no talent make total asses of themselves just to be on TV...
I just forced myself to watch fifteen hours of this season's The Real Housewives of Orange County to prepare for another parody shoot!
Seriously, you'd think I'd be over watching a bunch of rich, annoying, "housewives" by now-
But I just saw a preview for tonight's new episode of The Real Housewives of New York and I can hardly contain myself!!!
The crack is good!

But if was a fun day at the studio.

Dance Through The Pain!
Is what I try to tell myself when working with kids half my age...
It's just so upsetting that my body doesn't want to do the things that it used to do with ease!
I've turned into that choreographer who marks everything-
I never thought that day would come.
I've got to get back in shape.
Ballet barre here I come!

Redeye
The goal is to fall asleep in the darkness and wake-up with the sunrise-
The fact is, it rarely happens.
Rather, you twist and turn constantly readjusting your seat.
Praying that you can trick yourself into a slumber before its too late.
Then, and without any warning, you're jarred awake as the plane slams down on the Tarmac.
I suggest plenty of pills for the inexperienced!
P.S. My eyes are more puffy and pink than red...

HIGHdiddelyDEE The Creative Life for Me!
I'm not happy unless I'm spending every second of the day working on something.
I can't sleep at night if I don't have:
A clear desk with all of the days projects complete,
and
A list of tasks I want to accomplish the following day.
Add on the fact that I'm out of town four times a month; choreographing, teaching and directing shows and it makes for a highly productive life.
The interesting thing is that I get so overwhelmed in the process that I forget that I can take a break...
I start to stress out and become less creative-
It's such a double edged sword!
Ugh....
If only I was a complete slacker!
I'd have chill life on the beach. Maybe a job as a barista at a local coffee house... Maybe not?
Oh well... that's just not me!

Dinner with a Mosquito
The perfect dinner alfresco in Brentwood;
Complete with comfy cushions surrounding a perfectly candle lit table-
A fabulous view of Malibu from the deck built into the side of a tree.
Delicious food fresh off the barbecue.
Fabulous drinks.
Festive conversation with friends...
And one annoying mosquito!
A mosquito that apparently bit me seven times as it worked its way from my ankle to my thigh!
I've been scratching for the past two days!
Next time- I'm coming with bug spray!

Thank You For Keeping Us Safe.
While I was out dancing at a club this weekend in LA I had the pleasure of sharing a brief conversation with two men that served our country side by side on multiple tours of duty in Iraq;
One of the men was straight.
The other gay-
I told them I was grateful for their services EQUALLY.
I'm so grateful to all of the men and women, gay and straight-
Who risk their lives for the safety of our country!
Happy Memorial Day.

Break Time
Sitting at a Starbucks in Santa Monica-
Near A-Plus Auto.
I'm waiting while Leo, my mechanic, installs new breaks and tunes up my car.
This is where I've been coming for the past eight years for all of my automotive needs.
In LA the most important number to have saved on the iCloud is not your agent at CAA.
It's the number to a reliable mechanic-
Your agent can't save you when you break down on the 405.
But your mechanic can!
Unless it's an emotional break down-
In that case you're screwed!

Anti-Social Media
I met up with friends at a bar on the Sunset Strip
tonight for a fun social night out;
tonight for a fun social night out;
I spent the first ten minutes trying to "check-in,"
Yelp and Twitter my activities-
Yelp and Twitter my activities-
Followed by another five minutes shooting a fun
photo and tagging everyone on Facebook.

It was pointed out to me by one of my friends that with
all my social networking I had become,
all my social networking I had become,
"Anti-social media!"
The truth hurts!
So I put down my phone and engaged in conversation
with the friends who were actually in front of me...

It was a fun night.
Of course I went right back to my on-line friends
while walking home from the restaurant.

Is It Safe To Come Out?
I never intended to spend a large part of my life lying to the people I love the most-
I worked hard to keep a dark secret under wraps.
As I got older, it became harder for me to hide from myself;
I could not control my deepest thoughts and emotions.
I could no longer pretend to be someone I didn't recognize or respect.
When I released the fear and began living openly, I began to soar.
So when Instinct Magazine approached my partner Jeff and me to feature us in their April 2012 issues, I felt the most in incredible sense of pride.
It was a turning point for me-
The article would openly acknowledge Jeff as my partner;
both professionally with our company A Group Production and personally.
But before I could come out to the world in a magazine, it occurred to me that I was still hiding the secret from one of the closest people in my life.
Though my grandma has spent a lot of time with Jeff over the past ten years, our relationship status had never been defined or talked about.
I know that she loves me unconditionally and Jeff too-
Yet I struggled with wether or not I should share with her one of my proudest accomplishment to date.
It would have been the first time in my life that I withheld a victory from her.
While I contemplated my dilemma, it occurred to me that this woman has shared her unconditional love and support my entire life.
Why would this be any different?
So this week while I was at home visiting her, I decided to share our article.
As she began to read the first paragraph, a smile grew across her face-
"That's a wonderful story," were the first words out of her mouth!
Followed quickly with a chuckle and, "...you make a pretty girl."
It was such a relief to get that validation from a woman that I love so much!
I am completely free, and not hiding anymore!
I worked hard to keep a dark secret under wraps.

I could not control my deepest thoughts and emotions.

Off-Episodes With Grandma
Sitting across the table from one of the most
important women in my life;
I almost don't recognize her shell.
Parkinson's disease has manipulated her graceful body-
Her proud and bullheaded determination remains unaffected,
She will not concede without resistance!
Her laugh is still as infectious as ever-
The "off-episodes" are painful.
I search to find the grandma I know.
Then the fog clears and my best friend is back.
I don't know how long I'll have her.
I struggle to cherish every minute-
Even the frustrating moments!
She's shown me a lifetime of unconditional love;
I will certainly do the same.
It's hard to think about missing someone who's still on earth.
So I'll focus on loving her while I have her!
She's assured me she will always be with me on my shoulder...
With a wink and a smile.
Right now, I'm grateful that we're still able to enjoy moments like this:

A House Is Just A Shell
So many fond memories transpired here.
Birthdays, parties, Sunday dinners, summer vacations, heated debates, morning coffee talks, laughter and tears-
It is the only place in my life that has been a constant source of unconditional love.
However as I lay here tonight and begin to accept the inevitable, I realized the smell of my grandpa has disappeared, but his memory lives on.
I finally truly understand the saying, "Home is where the heart is."
This house is just a shell, my heart is ready to accept responsibility to make a home for my memories.

Conversations With Dad
His unconditional love for me speaks louder than any conflict in faith or politics-
We may not see eye to eye on a lot of topics,
but we're committed to the mutual adaptation of our relationship as adults.
He continues to be...
A wonderful man, and my hero.

The Light Of My Life!
Call me a proud uncle...
But I just can't resist sharing the extended video of my gorgeous niece!

Rocky Mountain Mornings
I always love waking up early in Colorado.
Watching the sun sneak up over Pikes Peak from grandma's back porch is breathtaking.
Little baby birds chirping, eagerly awaiting the robin that sits up in the gorgeous elm tree.
The magical blue sky.
The fresh smell in the air instantly transports me back to the summer vacations I spent with my family growing up!
River walks with my aunt Susie,
Scrambled eggs with grandma and grandpa Shaffer,
Trips to Dairy Queen with grandma and grandpa Smith;
Mornings in Colorado are magical.

Vacation?!
Taking a vacation to visit with family can feel more like work;
It's a struggle to please everyone,
Watching loved ones battle the onset of old age,
Trying to keep up with life in LA- so that we don't miss out on opportunities...
I'm thrilled I get to spend time with with the people I love...
But the fact remains-
I start my day the exact same way I finish it...
Exhausted.

Late Night Drink With Friends
Late to bed-
Early to rise,
Makes my eyes;
Puffy, irritated and dry!
But a delicious drink and conversation with an old friend is worth it.

Life On The Road...
Traveling for work in a city that also happens to be where your family lives is strange;
You want to be hanging out with family-
But the entire reason you're near your family is for work.
So you spend your day at work thinking about your family...
Then when you get off work to spend time with your family,
You're too tired to have fun because you know you have to get up early and go back to work!

Daily Reminder...
The only way I can implement action is if I release doubt!
The day started off rocky, which turns into an avalanche of boulders- working their way to crush my soul.
The only way out is to find a different path.
Life is too short to worry about things that cannot be controlled.

United in RAGE!
I really miss quality customer service.
I know I sound like an old man-
But I actually remember a time when it was a pleasure doing business with people.
Now, it's a pain in the ass!!!
I spent exactly 53 minutes on hold with United Airlines;
I had to listen to their recorded message remind me that, "The estimated wait time is approximately 3 minutes."
Ninety percent of why I stayed on the line so long was to tell them how annoying their false sense of hope is.
The rage built up so bad that not even telling off a low level customer support rep at United could keep me on hold...
The worst part is I still haven't been able to redeem my airline miles toward that ticket to Hawaii~
(That I CLEARLY NEED!)

Reincarnation...
I don't believe in reincarnation-
But if I did,
I'd pray to come back as Chris Hemsworth.
Shallow?
Yes.
I suppose I should want to return as someone more influential or meaningful to society.
But honestly...
The guy is Thor.
Need I say more?

Party Like A Thirty-Four Year Old?!
I spent my Birthday weekend partying like I did when I was twenty-one.
Drinking too much,
Overeating,
Staying up past 11 PM,
Not working out,
The only problem, I don't bounce back like I did when I was twenty-one.
There are so many advantages to growing older-
Wisdom, life experience, success and a steady income...
Partying like a rock star is not one of them!

Cinco de Matteo!
I partied like Lindsay Lohan yesterday for my birthday...
So naturally this morning I woke up in a foggy haze
and reached for the bottle of Advil;
and reached for the bottle of Advil;
I chased them with a margarita!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Mexican restaurants everywhere are celebrating the fact
that Americans everywhere celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

It's A Viral Birthday!
Wow! I never imagined turning thirty-four could be so much fun.
Thanks to the social media world we live in, it's hard not to feel special on your birthday...
Starting around 3 am, my iPhone alerts were off the charts;
By the time I rolled out of bed, around 8:30 am, I'd already received birthday well wishes from friends in several different countries!
You can say what you want about todays society spending less time interacting-
But today was proof to me that Facebook can also be used for good.
Who doesn't like waking up to hundreds of birthday well wishes?
I can honestly say, I felt the love of my online friends;
Some are lifelong friends, others are people I met out socially, and others are people I've never met but support my work-
That's the beauty of a social world...
The ability to reach out to people who make us laugh, think and inspire.
I was sincerely inspired by the energy I've experienced today!
I'm grateful today is already a Happy Birthday!

Last Day Of Jesus' Age...
Well I didn't lead a nation, save a prostitute from being stoned to death or die for anyone else's sins...
But I did produce a TV pilot, save a friend from making a huge mistake and died laughing at least once a week~
So I think my thirty-third year was a huge success!
I strived to work hard, play hard and live in the moment this year, and I'm proud at the things I've achieved.
I'm not sure what's next in my life, but I imagine things are right on track!
Here's to turning another year older and hopefully another year wiser!

Birthday Week Festivities...
Birthday Week long celebration;
Each night a dinner date-
Making sure that each night has a specific theme.
Chinese on Monday,
Thai on Tuesday,
Tonight... a little pre-Cinco de Mayo Mexican food!
I'm fairly positive that come this weekend we're going to need a major detox!
But will have fun working our way into a fattening food frenzy in the mean time...

You mean to tell me people can have completly different political and social opinions and actually debat the facts?

Canada Day 1
Woke up this morning and turned on the TV in my hotel room;
Flip through the channels and land on "The Morning Show."
Bizarre, it's like watching my favorite morning show back home on a day where all of the co-hosts are out on assignment.
I never thought I'd say this...
I miss Ann Curry!
No offense to the talented co-hosts of "The Morning Show."
I do enjoy listening to them talk...

ShowBUSINESS!
I don't think you can truly appreciate Irving Berlin's sentiment, "There's No Business Like Show Business" until it's too late to turn back...
Anyone who's taken their childhood dreams and passion and set out to conquer New York or Hollywood will surly tell you how tough the journey is.
Rejection is only the beginning.
Still, it isn't until you've actually hustled endlessly to create your own project that you fully understand the Business of show.
Interestingly enough, the harder you work in Hollywood, the harder you have to fight!
Once you have something worth selling in Hollywood
everyone wants a piece of it.
I guess it's a good position to be in-
With everyone reaching for a slice, you know you're serving up something delicious!

Life Is Not A Check List! Part: 3,234,654,668?!
I'm motivated to succeed and therefor I spend so much of my life trying to get things done;
I'm in a constant state of making lists.
I'm certain it all stems from an incredible fear I had as a child-
If I wasn't constantly focused on achieving, I thought I'd be a failure.
I suppose there are worse things in life than trying to get shit done.
I just need to make a list of ways to enjoy a life for a moment...
See?! There I go again!
Enough is enough.
I'm going to see a movie in the middle of the day!
Everything else can wait.

Never Give Up!
I gave up on myself once;
I was ready to believe I could stop believing in my dream-
Thank God I snapped out of it.
Just in time to realize how short life is.
Not every day is easy, but somehow I always end up having a good time!

I'm So Hairy!
I remember when I used to dream about growing a beard-
I think I was five years old...
I thought it would be so cool!
Now I dream of a day without shaving;
The ingrown hairs, nicks and razor burn? I hate it!
Don't even get me started on the hair that grows on my chest and back! Gross.
When I was a kid I thought having hair on my face would make me grown up...
Now I know the truth, it just makes me feel like an old man!
On the upside, I still have a full head of hair- I guess every dark cloud has a silver lining!

"Deal" With It...
Trying hard not to rage;
People only care about helping themselves.
It's so frustrating to rely on people who call themselves professionals-
Then behave like amateurs.
I'm paying you for this?
Just another enormous detour along the road;
No wonder it takes twenty years to become an overnight success!

Beautiful Day...
Up at the crack of dawn.
Hiking while the sun rises;
Birds chip,
Trash trucks beep,
The distant sound of cars racing to work.
The view from the hills above Sunset Boulevard is stunning.
Spring is here...
It's a gorgeous day in LA!

Talented
My job judging talent competitions is full of inspiration.
I'm always amazed by the level of talent that young performers have nowadays-
I'm impressed with the layers of emotion and technique that a six year old can achieve.
I'm pretty sure when I was six, I was busy playing in the sandbox and bossing the neighborhood kids around.

What is Your Damage?
Friendship is complex.
The relationship is based on the faith that both parties have the other persons best interest at heart.
Of course that's not always easy-
Especially in situations involving close friends with a long history of highlights and low notes;
At the end of the day, I can only be responsible for my behavior.
In the past, I've struggled not to engage. It's completely against my nature to walk away from a confrontation. Particularly when I know I've done nothing wrong.
Thankfully, I've reached a place in my life that I can step back, apologize for my part in the disagreement, and move on.
Unfortunately, not everyone is willing to do the same-

The Trouble With Alcohol...
Dinner parties are always fun with friends;
Especially when booze are involved!
You laugh,
You gossip,
You compare your shitty week-
You say outlandish things that stop everyone in their tracks;
Until spontaneous, gut-wrenching outbursts erupt!
You go to Tweet it, and the table glares...
I get it! No social media during dinner!
I wake up the next day...
I can't remember a damn thing!
That's the trouble with alcohol...
It's all fun and games, until you wake up and forget who you are.

Death and Taxes...
Goodbye sunshine hello rain.
It makes perfect sense that clouds would roll in on the day that I planned to meet with my accountant regarding my 2011 taxes!
I've made my peace with the fact that one day, I will eventually die.
But somehow, I just can't wrap my brain around the idea that taxes will always be a part of life!
It seems no matter how much I save, plan and prepare-
I'm always shocked at how little I make, and how much Uncle Sam takes!
Oh well, it's just one of those things that I don't have to accept, I just have to release it...
I know what happens to people that don't pay their taxes, and I can assure you I will not be one of them!

The Interesting Thing About Creativity Is...
Regardless of how excited you are about an idea in your mind, you cannot bring it to life without taking the time to sit down and do the work!
Unfortunately, jump starting my creative juices doesn't always happen.
No matter how long I stare at a blank computer screen...
Somedays you just have to cut power to the main source and walk away.

Good Friday
My life is good.
God is great.
I have so much to be thankful for today.
Mainly, that come Sunday I will be able to eat carbs and drink soda again!
But if I'm going to be honest, I have to say that everything wonderful in my life has come from my faith.
I went to mass this morning and remembered how nice it is to believe in someone or something stronger than me.
I'm blessed and I'm not ashamed to give praise to a man who was tortured, ridiculed and died for me.

Puppy Poem Inspired by my Spoiled Dogs!
If I were a puppy I'd sleep all day,
I'd wake up at night and be ready to play.

I Hate Negotiating...
Just because I happen to be good at something,
doesn't mean I necessarily enjoy it!
Of course I'm so elated that I'm at a point in my
career where negotiation is necessary-
Nevertheless, it's uncomfortable.
Even with the best lawyers playing the "bad guy."
I mean, I hired them to act on my behalf, so what does that make me?
Ugh!
I just can't wait for this step to be finalized so I can move back into my happily creative corner of the universe.

Flying Off The Handle...
If working your way through the vile and evasive breach of personal space that (we pretend) is making us safer, known as the TSA, doesn't make your blood boil-
I trust the boarding process will!
By the time they finish boarding; First Class, handicap, those needing special assistance, Executive Platinum, Premium Platinum, Premiere Platinum, Platinum Plus and Elite Premiere Platinum Plus passengers- over half the plane and all overhead bins are full.
Then they start with Group 1?!?
Inevitably I'm in Group 4. Once I'm finally on board, I arrive to my seat which is a window- and three Premier Executive Douche bags have to get up to let me in my chair.
Naturally, the one I'm stuck sitting next to is 300 pounds over weight...
(And I wish I was exaggerating!)
More to the point, the hefty man treats me like it's my fault he's super sized, and refuses to share the armrest.
Flying has truly helped me reach new levels of RAGE!
I trust the boarding process will!

Stars... They're Just Like Me!
You know that section in US Weekly or Star or People or, well I'm not sure which one it is exactly, but they're all the same aren't they?
I love that section- simply because they hire paparazzi to stake out dry cleaners, coffee shops and parks to catch "stars" acting like normal people.
Today for example, I was in line behind a famous star and his two adorable kids.
He ordered like me, paid like me, tipped the barista (like me on a good day) and waited for his coffee like me... When his coffee came, he and his kids sat and enjoyed coffee and snacks.
It really made me think-
Wow, those trash magazines are right- He is exactly like me!
Then he and his kids left in a luxury car and it dawned on me...
He's nothing like me, I would never drive a red corvette!

Instinct Magazine Article
I'm so excited to share a fun interview that Jeff and I did for the April 2012 issue of Instinct Magazine.
I'm especially honored to be a part of this particular issue, because it features Jason Mraz on the cover. It's the first time Instinct has featured a straight man on the cover... More importantly, it's an issue that focuses on Equality! Please go out and buy a copy of the April Issue of Instinct Magazine and stand up for love!

A Moment Of Awareness
I love those moments in life when an important piece of your past reveals its true worth in your present.
Like a coded message you sent back from the future to experience as a child, so that you'd know exactly when and how to use it as an adult.
These life shaping discoveries are usually painfully embarrassing, sometimes even horrifying- but are followed with a new found strength.
As you continue along your journey through life, you forget these bookmarks, until one day the adult you, has a flash of recognition, and for one magnificent moment everything makes perfect sense.
The setbacks and realizations you fought so hard against as a kid, then suppressed as a teen, and ignored as a young adult slowly start leaking out-
The beauty is, at just the right point in time, you're finally able to comprehend the importance of those hurdles along the way. More importantly, you accept that all of those things that you rebelled against for so long, are precisely what made you who you are.
Once you can finally embrace them, you have the key to unlock who you're meant to be.
Life is so cool that way-

The Glamorous Life On Tour
You know you travel too much when you realize you're sitting in the same random airport bar in Salt Lake City as you did five years earlier, and the only thing that's changed is the amount of alcohol you consume.
It's not that spending your life getting paid to travel across the country can't be fun;
Late night trips to small town gas stations for more alcohol.
The rare craving for an awful chain restaurant like Applebee's.
Quick stops at national monuments, points of interest and mom and pop variety shops...
But on the whole life as an artist on the road is less glamorous and more TOURture!
Especially when you've been doing it since you were eighteen!
Of course I'm grateful that I've lived my life performing around the world-
What nineteen year old would turn down a six month trip performing across Europe on someone else's dime?
Still, at thirty-three, I'm ready to spend more time in the city I live, and less time on a brutal, oversold Southwest flight to (slight pause for dramatic effect) wow, I don't even know where I'm going!
...and I kinda like it that way.

Break-out!
Some days you wake up and cereal just won't do!
I love walking to a local restaurant for a delicious and hearty meal...
Eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, coffee and OJ!
It's an affordable guilty pleasure-
And the perfect way to start the weekend!

Patience Is A Virtue... It's Also A Must!
I hate losing my patience with a loved one-
She has been a constant source of unconditional love, wisdom, support and laughter;
Now, when she needs me, I feel I fall short.
I've lost compassion and understanding.
Anger and sadness are affecting my reactions.
I know I can do better.
I HAVE to do better!
She gives me the world-
When I look back, I don't want to remember how frustrated I was;
I want to celebrate how beautiful life was with her!
I have to do better.

Solid Gold!
There are days in life when everything falls into place...
In LA it happens less often!
Today was one of those magical days...
Celebrate the small victories when they come, and embrace the possibilities!

The thing about teaching teenagers:

Sometimes they break you!

Sometimes they break you!

Make It Happen!
It's not enough to "want" something in life,
You really have to be prepared to fight for it-
You work hard night and day,
Pouring your heart and soul into a dream;
You give everything you think you have to offer,
Only to discover a deeper hunger and drive than you thought possible.
Then the opportunity comes along to set the plan into action.
Today is the day...
I'm going to make it happen!

The Green Mile...
Spent the day inside a theatre working;
We could hear the sound of bag pipes and festive cheer between numbers-
Walking back to the hotel in the rain after the show;
Weaving in and out of a sea of drunken green people-
It became blatantly clear that St. Patrick's Day had taken its toll;
I made it back to my room without getting hit or thrown up on-
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

An Actors Life...
Urgent phone call and six follow up emails.
Last minute audition to be a series regular in a huge new pilot!
Note from casting:
"Actors MUST have all ten pages of dialogue memorized. MUST not be flamboyant. Make strong choices! Actor MUST be a strong singer. Just be you! Be unique. Just have fun!"
That's my favorite part of this industry...
My entire day gets completely postponed for an opportunity to be PEFECT!
...along with the forty-five other guys that are "perfect" for this role.
Well, one of us has to get the part, maybe this one will be me!

Accounting Error... Tax Season Is Here!
I loath tax season!
The numbers.
The math.
The files.
The forms.
The write-offs.
The reconciling accounts.
It's all so annoying.
Even with a CPA I cringe at the entire process.
It would be nice if I actually had a nice return to look forward to!
Sadly, it seems like I always owe more money than I even made each year.
Ugh. I have a massive headache!

Coffee Talk
One might ask me, "Matthew, you're in Starbucks a lot! How much coffee can you consume."
Answer:
There will NEVER be a time when I turn down a trip to Starbucks.
I hate that I'm a cog in the corporate trend... But Starbucks hooked me in when I was a Senior in high school and I've been addicted ever since.
I've already been twice today, for a production meeting and a quick "refuel."
Now I'm off to meet up with a good friend from NYC.
It's the perfect place to hang out, people watch and get pumped full of over priced, hand crafted beverages!

Mercury's In Retrograde?!?
Ordinarily I get a good chuckle when my friends with stars in their eyes inform me that Mercury is in retro grade...
I'm sure that astrology, much like almost everything else on earth effects the way we behave.
Our mood swings, happiness and our livelihood are no doubt connected in someway to the universe.
Still, I've never altered my plans, rearrange my schedule or change my life because the "charts" told me to do so.
Today however, I actually felt the sting of Mercury in retro grade. I didn't realize it this morning when the first of many mini-disasters occurred, but it was confirmed tonight when the final ball was dropped.
Mercury is in retrograde ...and I can feel it!

Do You Ever Wonder...
Why, no matter what brand you buy or how much money you spend, it's impossible to start a new roll of toilet paper without losing the first 40 squares because of the glue they use?
What a waste!
Literally.
Literally.

Change Your Underwear!
I'm ashamed to admit it...
But today, I'm wearing the same pair of underwear that I had on yesterday.
An unexpected overnight stay away from home has forced me to go without a lot this morning.
A toothbrush.
Toothpaste.
Face cream.
Hair product.
Fresh underwear...
The thought occurred for me to "fly solo" without the undergarments...
But it just doesn't feel right in a Calvin Klein suit!
That old trick about turning the underwear inside out...
It doesn't fool me... my ass knows it's in the same pair as yesterday!

A Sad State...
It's hard to believe that there are people in the United States of America who still condone discrimination in the Twenty-first Century
... let alone an entire state.
Sadly, the Utah Senate just passed legislation that forbids teachers to discuss anything related to sexuality or sexual orientation. This includes a ban on anything that relates to the LGBT community.
Even if a student is being bullied, is curious or considering suicide.
Those parents who decide that they want their kids to participate in sex education classes have to opt in, and at that point their teenager will be taught an abstinence ONLY program.
I understand that there are people of many faiths in our country. I also acknowledge that not everyone believes that you are born gay.
What I can't understand is why anyone would want to force a young man or woman struggling with their sexuality to suffer in silence.
Often times, the school is the only refuge for those kids to seek help, guidance and support.
It shocks me that there are so many people that still believe that you can "teach" a child to become gay.
If that were the case, why can't you "teach" a child not to be gay?
Don't even get me started on the (so called) Christian camps that convert your gay son or daughter.
I find it ironic that these faithful people that stand behind religion are the first to preach hate for EVERYONE that thinks or behaves different from them.
If they have faith, why are they concerned with others who have different beliefs? Is their religion so weak that it will crumble if they don't convince everyone to drink the punch?
Clearly in Utah the do things by The Book! ...of Moron.

Remember Mix Tapes?
What happened to the good old days?
Remember when you could pop a cassette tape into a tape deck and hit record?
Love mix tapes. Break-up mix tapes. Dance mix tapes. BFF mix tapes...
Even after CD's were introduced, we still found time to seek out our favorite songs from various CD's and record them onto one fabulous cassette tape that we would play over and over again on our lunch break to and from high school...
Then digital music swooped in and everything became so clean and "easy."
You can have all of your music in one place and share it with the world.
Too bad I spent six hours last night trying to cut two songs together in Garage Band.
A simple task, that SHOULD be painless. Considering the marvels of what a Mac can accomplish.
Unfortunately, with the onset of "convenient" music available at the click of a mouse, comes strict encrypting techniques that make some songs virtually impossible to cut, splice, mash or tweak.
Sometimes I really miss the days when you could steal music from the radio and no one cared!

Take A Hike!
When moments of chaos ensue-
I need to clear my mind.
I allow myself to get caught up in patterns;
Trying to accomplish too much in too short a time.
Stress, doubt and fear begin to rule.
The pressure will eventually build.
I get lazy!
That won't help matters.
It's times like this when I need to step away from the iPhone Calendar...
And go take a hike!

Do What You Love!
For some, Sunday is a day of rest, brunch or football...
I spent the day doing what I love with my talented friends.
We shot a parody of (arguably) the worst and most fantastic Reality TV show every!
Dance Moms!
One might ask, "How do you parody a show that is already a spoof of itself?"
Well- I think we nailed it!
We should be doing with the editing by the end of this week...
In the meantime, here's a sneak peak of what's to come!

Saturday Nights
When I was in grade school, I spent Saturday nights at the movies with my family.
When I was in middle school, I spent Saturday nights at the co-recreational dances perfecting the running man.
When I was in high school, I spent Saturday nights hanging at the beach with my drama geek friends around a bonfire.
When I was in my twenties, I spent Saturday nights out at the clubs in NYC!
And now, in my thirties... I (happily) spend Saturday nights making dinner with my friends...

Positive.
The battle to stay focused and positive is tough-
Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose.
Sometimes you decided to say fuck it, and go for a long hike.
Take in the beautiful California blue sky and let the sun soak up all the negative energy.
Then maybe you come home, buckle down and get shit done...
So that when 5 O'Clock rolls around, you don't feel guilty sipping on a cocktail!

Now That We Got That Over With...
February is a bogus month!
Even with a bonus day every four years, I still fill like I'm being cheated.
How am I supposed to accomplish all of my monthly goals in twenty-eight days?
I consider February a wash.
If I get to cross something off a list, I'm pleased...
But if I didn't have time to get to a task, I'm not so hard on myself.
After all, you can't expect to conquer anything in under thirty days...
Just ask Lindsay Lohan.

Leap!
I don't understand why we have an extra day in February every four years...
I'm sure it has something to do with science, I never really paid close enough attention in school.
I liked history & drama more.
Regardless of why-
I'm always grateful for an extra day at the end of an already short month.

New York Date of Mind...
Today I got to have lunch with good friend from New York.
We laughed. We gossiped. We complained. We picked up right where we left off~
She's thinking about moving to LA, and I hope that she does.
It would be wonderful to have an old friend near.

The Process
I've dedicated the greater part of my life working toward a dream that I've had since I was a kid;
I said yes to every new opportunity that came my direction,
I struggled to stay focused when things didn't go the way I'd planned.
It hasn't always been easy or fun for that matter;
But the fact is I've been hard at work making my dreams come true;
Every day,
Every set back,
Every "no," is another chance to learn and grow.
Every day is a new experience.
I have no doubt that I will be in that room one day soon-
It will be surreal.
But I will know that I earned my place there!
